There was a small, loose floorboard in one of the rooms; when I removed it, I found the note above, under a layer of dust and splinters.  I took that picture of it, then put it back and replaced the floorboard. (After digging a bit deeper, I’d found the present - five Milk Tray chocolates in a box. I didn’t risk it.)
